☁️ Where is this heaven and hell of which you speak? 🔥

According to the zealots, the big goal is to make it into Heaven, while the big fear is you’ll end up in Hell. They both sound interesting, but where are they? Where are these mythical places? In the beginning, Heaven was in the sky, because it was pretty, full of clouds, and people couldn’t get there. It was so close, yet completely out of reach. That was a good and carrot and stick story to tell. You could see it, but not touch it, tricky and tempting in equal measure. Then humans took to flight, going higher than the birds, floating amongst the clouds, with no Heaven in sight. It must be higher then, in space, because that’s above the sky and we can’t get there. Then humans put together telescopes to peer into the void, took to rocketry, went higher than the clouds, into the stratosphere and beyond. Probes have peered into deep space, in multiple directions, from multiple […]

Every Friday is a Good Friday

I think every Friday is a good Friday, and this one is no different, even though it gets a special title and time off. I have the day off, and I’ll take it no problem, although I don’t feel it should be considered a “holiday.” All religious holidays, from all belief systems, should be on the calendar or none of them. Of course that would mean barely working during the year, but it’s still valid. Companies are “forced” to recognize “Good Friday,” which is fine, but there aren’t days off for Yom Kippur, Ramadan, or Cinco de Mayo? Where are the memorial days and days of remembrance for all the wars started with and crimes against the Native Americans in the name of Manifest Destiny? These are important days to their respective cultures, but only the Christian days are officially recognized. You can take a “Floating Holiday” if that’s your thing, which is useful, but at the same time insulting. […]

The arcane truth of the Necronomicon

As soon as you start researching the topic of Satanism, you inevitably run across references to the Necronomicon, a book translated as: It’s a book so powerful and dangerous it can drive the reader to madness. A scary prospect as I know of only one book that really does drive the reader to madness and mental instability and that’s the bible. The Necronomicon is supposedly full of powerful magic rituals, summoning spells, protection spells, and arcane sigils. It’s even suggested you should focus on and meditate on the symbols and spells of the Necronomicon. It has a fascination and somewhat sinister history with its origins going back to 700CE. The “Mad Arab” was first to mention the book. An anonymous Simon was supposedly able to make a translation at great risk to himself. And there are connections to John Dee making a translation in 1586, which has since been “lost” or more likely destroyed. There are even links to a […]

Hail the 15th Amendment and the Right to Vote regardless of race, color, or previous condition of servitude

On this day in 1870, the government finally pulled it’s head out of it’s ass and acknowledged the Right for most citizens. It’s shocking and shameful it took a Constitutional Amendment to acknowledge a basic human right. And the fact it took another amendment to stop the idea of owning another human being. You would think being a human being and a citizen of the United States would be enough. Clearly it’s not. Do we really have to spell it out like this? Are we that stupid and prejudice? Nevermind, the question answers itself. Fifteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution

Satanic Meditation

Wow, looking up terms related to meditation opens the usual book of Christian crazy. Since meditation is the act of an individual looking inward rather than skyward, to see what kind of actions they can take to effect positive change on themselves, it gets labeled “satanic.” The common Christian thread is that you have no control over your life. You must submit to the power and will of JC, or else you live a false and deluded life. Unhappiness comes from living as a reckless individual and working to solve your own problems. There is no problem the lord can’t solve. These devolve into a series of grossly idiotic statements with wild assertions. To save time and pain, here’s a couple watered down versions. I’ll say straight up that my self-centric form of meditation doesn’t have anything to do with chakras. There is no summoning of Satan, because that’s not a thing. There is no trust in JC, because that’s not […]

Dealing with Social Anxiety

Even though we’re in a ridiculously connected digital world, there are plenty of us with social anxiety, a term I wasn’t familiar with a few years ago. I’ve taken plenty of personality tests for work and personal interest, and on a scale of 1 to 10, I rate a 9 for introvert. No shocker there, I knew that part decades ago. The social anxiety is a bit new, at least in terms of understanding. It’s something I, and others, attributed to being shy. And while I am shy and reserved, it’s not quite the same. Speaking of not quite the same, social anxiety and antisocial are NOT the same. I’m impressed at how many people admit or acknowledge their anxiety. It wasn’t addressed a few years ago. Equally, I’m impressed with a few of my previous managers who’ve noted it as a trait within me and used it to acknowledge my support role. It’s not, you’re a loner and refuse […]

Three years of Covid lockdown

Tomorrow will mark 3 years of working remotely and spending 99.5% away from public spaces. I remember the day well as it was Friday the 13th, an auspicious day for several reasons. Add to that a full moon. In the movies, it was the right conditions to leave the office and go into hiding. The transition to working remotely wasn’t a big leap for me. My previous job already had a work from home policy, and most people spent November and December outside the office. We used laptops and I already had a home desk setup. Further, all my work is connecting to remote systems, so an Internet connection is an Internet connection. Plus, when you’re an introvert with some social anxiety, not being around people all day is a bit of a bonus. Despite what people say and how they’d like to play it, this Covid pandemic isn’t over. It’s nowhere near as severe and deadly, but it’s not […]

The Satanic Altar

Satanic Altar, those two words strike fear and bring people to the point of soiling themselves. It immediately conjures up images of a red pentagram drawn on the floor surrounded by black candles, people in dark hooded robes chanting some arcane verse, writing 666 on every surface, and of course, the naked woman as the altar table. Fact, fiction, or LaVey? To be fair, a lot of this is exactly what LaVey showed off to the media for shock value and publicity, and it totally worked. He took the old cliches and stereotypes and turned them into new cliches and stereotypes. The media loved the sex and scandal. People loved the blasphemy. You can find dozens of photos of LaVey at his altar with Baphomet flags, candles on large pedestals, ceremonial chalice, and dagger all while wearing a dark hooded devil costume. It was both mockery and making a statement. But really, what is the Satanic Altar? Is there really […]

Clearing your thoughts through journaling

When people think of journaling, they probably conjure the image of a lone child, tucked away in a bedroom, writing down secret thoughts and ideas starting with the sentence, “Dear Diary.” Fair enough, but without the diary, we wouldn’t have “The Diary of Anne Frank.” Go ahead and mock that, I dare ya. Today there are bullet journals, gratitude journals, and others. Even the Blog, Vlog, and YouTube, stem from journaling and diary writing. In my own life, I use journaling almost every day to clear out what’s on my mind-what’s good, what’s bad, what’s right, what’s wrong. But, each day, perhaps a couple of times, I sit down and write the first thing that comes to mind. It may start off with a thought, feeling, or recalling an event that strikes me in the moment. That can lead to recalling another event or feeling, which leads to a memory, which leads to something else. It’s about the stream of […]

Seven Deadly Sins

We’re told to avoid and be afraid of the Seven Deadly Sins, but I disagree. These “sins” are necessary and even beneficial. They should be sought out rather than avoided. When used correctly, they can make us a better person. Like everything, they only become problematic when used to excess. As a reminder, we have: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Pride All of these are motivating factors in life and relationships. Lust is another word for attraction and desire. Lust can motivate us to find a partner. Lust combined with Pride make us take care of ourselves and look enticing to our partners. Lust stops us from wearing torn sweatpants and pizza stained shirts. You have to ask, which comes first, Lust or Love? And can you really have one without the other? Gluttony makes us savor food and drink. Gluttony motivates us to try foods from around the world not just frank and beans or bread and curd. […]
