🔎 What happened to the burden of proof?

It wasn’t that long ago where the burden of proof was on you as the claimant, but that’s been replaced with, “Prove me wrong.” While that may be amusing for social media memes, it’s not how we should be running our lives and country. We saw this run rampant in the 80s with all the Satanic Panic nonsense. People were arrested on false charges, their lives and reputations ruined without a shred of evidence. The more outrageous the claim, the more people believe it. It’s too ridiculous not to be true is not the way to approach situations. We still see it today. People were rabid for Pizzagate, and fell for it hook, line, and sinker. People didn’t have evidence before they showed up with guns, shooting the locks off the doors and rushing inside to find not a damn thing. Just like all the other child abuse conspiracy theories, there was no basement, no series of secret tunnels. There […]

😈 Satanism, the paranormal, and the supernatural (go into a bar) 👻

Can you be a Satanist, but believe in the paranormal and supernatural? Do those go together? As a Satanist, you can believe in whatever makes you happy, that’s your choice. However, in my view, the paranormal and supernatural don’t fit in with Satanism. Many years ago I was open minded about the idea of spirits, ghosts, and the afterlife. They’re major elements in D&D and RPG games. The Underworld was a central setting for campaigns and explorations. The afterlife is kind of pivotal to escape “permadeath.” The Egyptian afterlife and pyramids are a central part of the culture, which I find fascinating. I didn’t “believe” in the existence of ghosts, but I was open to the idea. Show me some proof and let’s see what’s possible. Some real proof, not grainy, hoax photography. Let me recap a few things I’ve seen with the paranormal. I hate to admit it, but, I’ve watched dozens of paranormal/ghost hunting shows like Ghost Hunters, […]

The Leap from Atheist to Satanist. What’s the big deal?

What’s the big deal in going from Atheist to Satanist? What’s the fundamental change? Neither group believes in a higher power or supernatural entities, so why bother? Further, people seem to be indifferent to Atheists, but soil their pants and become hostile over Satanists, so why align yourself under such a hostile umbrella? To most people, the Atheist is harmless, but the Satanist is dangerous. The Satanist is just trolling Christians, using the name and term to mock and taunt them. In an odd way, people feel duped that a Satanist doesn’t believe in Satan, so why the bait and switch? It’s a sad reality that people still feel Satanism is a worship of Satan, an actual cloven hoofed figure, with horns, who runs around granting favors in exchange for souls. It’s an old trope from the 80s that won’t go away. More to the point, we’re not in the 1600s anymore. To an atheist, there is no belief in, […]

☁️ Where is this heaven and hell of which you speak? 🔥

According to the zealots, the big goal is to make it into Heaven, while the big fear is you’ll end up in Hell. They both sound interesting, but where are they? Where are these mythical places? In the beginning, Heaven was in the sky, because it was pretty, full of clouds, and people couldn’t get there. It was so close, yet completely out of reach. That was a good and carrot and stick story to tell. You could see it, but not touch it, tricky and tempting in equal measure. Then humans took to flight, going higher than the birds, floating amongst the clouds, with no Heaven in sight. It must be higher then, in space, because that’s above the sky and we can’t get there. Then humans put together telescopes to peer into the void, took to rocketry, went higher than the clouds, into the stratosphere and beyond. Probes have peered into deep space, in multiple directions, from multiple […]

Every Friday is a Good Friday

I think every Friday is a good Friday, and this one is no different, even though it gets a special title and time off. I have the day off, and I’ll take it no problem, although I don’t feel it should be considered a “holiday.” All religious holidays, from all belief systems, should be on the calendar or none of them. Of course that would mean barely working during the year, but it’s still valid. Companies are “forced” to recognize “Good Friday,” which is fine, but there aren’t days off for Yom Kippur, Ramadan, or Cinco de Mayo? Where are the memorial days and days of remembrance for all the wars started with and crimes against the Native Americans in the name of Manifest Destiny? These are important days to their respective cultures, but only the Christian days are officially recognized. You can take a “Floating Holiday” if that’s your thing, which is useful, but at the same time insulting. […]

The arcane truth of the Necronomicon

As soon as you start researching the topic of Satanism, you inevitably run across references to the Necronomicon, a book translated as: It’s a book so powerful and dangerous it can drive the reader to madness. A scary prospect as I know of only one book that really does drive the reader to madness and mental instability and that’s the bible. The Necronomicon is supposedly full of powerful magic rituals, summoning spells, protection spells, and arcane sigils. It’s even suggested you should focus on and meditate on the symbols and spells of the Necronomicon. It has a fascination and somewhat sinister history with its origins going back to 700CE. The “Mad Arab” was first to mention the book. An anonymous Simon was supposedly able to make a translation at great risk to himself. And there are connections to John Dee making a translation in 1586, which has since been “lost” or more likely destroyed. There are even links to a […]
