What is wrong with the so called “Leaders?”

Politicians are no longer a beacon of reason, hope, and common sense. They’re become reckless, petulant, and abusive.

Nor are they representatives for, or servants of the people. They’re driven by a thirst for power and recognition, not the desire to make the country better.

Religious figures don’t offer comfort, they’re too busy dishing out condemnation. Disaster and disease are the work of God to cleanse away sinners.

There was also a time when the President was seen as a “Father figure.” For the last 30+ years we’ve seen some of the worst men come to power, culminating in a President literally calling for violence in the streets against other citizens.

People may be divided on issues, but when shit has hit the fan, they dropped their rhetoric and worked together. They agreed to squabble once the danger had passed.

There is no “we’ll get through this together,” anymore.

Politics is dividing and polarizing, forcing people to choose sides. It’s about us and them. It’s not about a common cause, but instead making laws that serve an agenda and put one group above another. It’s about singling out groups and taking away their human rights and dignity.

None of the elected officials have risen to today’s challenges. They are failing miserably and should be ashamed of themselves. If they had any sense of honor or self-respect, they would step down.

In no way has this pandemic brought out the best in people, where neighbor helps neighbor, and we pull together to keep each other safe.

We’ve seen hoarding, reckless behavior, snubbing of scientific data, and people associating not spreading a virus as an attack on their freedom.

With all the horror survival games out there, why are people so stupid? Don’t people realize the game Plague Inc, is a handbook of things to do and not to do in an actual plague?

People don’t care about the wellbeing of their neighbors, they only care about what they’re up to behind closed doors. People are dying because of poor healthcare, but lawmakers focus on who can get married.

If this were a ship, we’d all die 100 feet from shore because the captain ignored the lighthouse, sailed straight ahead, and crashed on the rocks. In his infinite wisdom, there are no life rafts or preservers because that’s a violation of freedoms and a naysayer attitude.
