Really, the Illuminati?

Despite the fact they died out over 200 years and were in existence for 10 years, people still believe the Illuminati is at work. Not only believe they still exist, but they have millions of members working toward a New World Order. A secret society (everyone knows about) that pulls the strings for government action both famous and infamous. They are behind all the good and bad things going on in the world.

Let’s sober up for a few minutes and look at a few details.

The Illuminati did exist, from May 1776 to around March 1785 or so. The society’s goals were to oppose superstition, obscurantism, religious influence over public life and abuses of state power.

Their plan was to spread the ideals of the Enlightenment through some sort of secret society of like-minded individuals.

It sounds kind of familiar, but good so far.

Thus, it was formed in May 1776 with 5 people. Not exactly an overwhelming start.

But, we jump ahead and the total number of verifiable members at the end of 1784 is around 650. Some claims put it in the realm of 2,500-3,500. Feels like 650 is more accurate. Regardless, nowhere near world domination numbers.

Without a clear plan or hierarchy, the Illuminati borrowed ideas and members from the Freemasons. This created a very loose link between the two.

Almost as soon as they started the Illuminati were in trouble. There was internal strife and a ban on secret societies. By 1785 the Illuminati were specifically mentioned. Most members were outed, and their papers published. That became the end of the organization.

A decade or so later, a Jesuit priest gets into a pissing content and demonizes his enemies. Sound familiar?

Augustin Barruel (October 2, 1741 – October 5, 1820) was a French publicist and Jesuit priest. He is now mostly known for setting forth the conspiracy theory involving the Bavarian Illuminati and the Jacobins in his book Memoirs Illustrating the History of Jacobinism (original title Mémoires pour servir à l’Histoire du Jacobinisme) published in 1797. In short, Barruel wrote that the French Revolution was planned and executed by the secret societies. [1]

This starts the ball rolling against a group that wasn’t organized enough to actually accomplish anything. They didn’t infiltrate government. They didn’t influence laws. They didn’t quell any abuses.

As soon as they were singled out and disbanded, they fled.

They did come up with a badass name though.

They also make a great foil in Angels&Demons by Dan Brown. But, let’s be clear, that book is a work of fiction. It’s a good read, but fiction.

Let’s have a look at a couple other problems of the modern day Illuminati.

No one in their right mind would initiate Kanye West into a society whose goal is Enlightenment.

Celebrities as your spokesperson is the stuff of Scientology and look how that’s turned out.

The Denver airport and the claims it hides Illuminati HQ is the classic fallacy-the fact you say it doesn’t exist means it does exist. You wouldn’t deny the existence unless it was true. You can’t argue with that level of stupid.

That kind of stupidity does have a name though [2]

The goal of the Illuminati was Enlightenment, thus the name. The Church repressed individual thinking, as they continue to do. Contradictory ideas to the Bible were heresy. People needed a way to discuss ideas and theories they believed to be true without the Church throwing them in jail. They were escaping conspiracy theory, not creating it.

Blaming the Illuminati is the same schtick Barruel used. It’s another quiver in this idiotic process of deflection. More cries of fake news, conspiracy theory, woke politics. Seriously what is woke politics? That doesn’t even make sense.

There is no secret society working to control people. In fact, it’s the opposite. The Republicans and Christians are trying to control government, politics and laws right in front of our eyes. They make no secret of their end game. They want a New World Order.

There is no need to look for a Bogeyman or Scapegoat in something that died out 200+ years ago because it never got off the ground.

The threat to enlightenment isn’t a secret or hidden. It’s right in front of us.
