Satanism isn’t trolling
It’s becoming the norm, any time a Satanist stands up to be counted it’s considered trolling.
Celebrate Christmas in a different way? That’s trolling.
Want to give an invocation to express a different belief? That’s trolling.
Want equality or pluralism in religious teachings? That’s trolling.
Want to express a belief system based on logic and science that doesn’t condemn others for being different? That’s trolling and heresy.
Despite the dismissive attitude, Satanism isn’t trolling. It’s a belief in a straightforward, tangible code of ethics offering advice on how to act and treat others without a reliance on invisible forces.
It’s based on an understanding of the world today, not ideology that’s 2000 years old, and doesn’t include guidelines on how to be prejudice toward others.
Like the Bill of Rights, it’s a belief that ALL people are created equal with the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, not just a select few.
It’s a belief that people are valued by who they are, not arbitrary characteristics like the color of their skin, sexual orientation, or gender, including non-binary.
It’s the belief that knowledge is power, and that the greatest gift is knowledge. This knowledge comes from scientific understanding and is always evolving and thus open to scrutiny and change.
No, Satanism isn’t about a creation myth, talking animals, sacrificing children, faux parables about morality, or end of world events that make no damn sense. Nor is it shame finger pointing, or guilt ridden diatribes over what happens when you make a mistake.
People are fallible. We make mistakes. We accept that and learn from it. We don’t look for a scapegoat or someone else to blame. Anyone who hasn’t made a mistake hasn’t done shit with their life.
Make no mistake, Satanism is belief system with values and principles that hold people accountable for their actions.
Instead of placating to a supernatural entity no one has ever seen, Satanism believes people need to improve themselves and those around them, “here and now,” in this life, where it counts.
It’s a belief that people should strive to improve themselves through action and learning.
It’s a belief system that understands that what might be good and right for me isn’t going to be good and right for you, and that’s not a problem. Your beliefs can be different from mine and it doesn’t diminish what I value.
It’s a belief system that understands we have more in common than differences. And those differences are what makes us beautiful and unique.
Satanism isn’t trolling. Unlike the convoluted and contradictory beliefs from the Bible, it’s a simple an elegant belief system that allows people to grow, adapt, and accept one another.
If religion needs a “higher power” to be considered legitimate, then I am that higher power to myself. I am the ultimate authority over my actions and deeds. I am ultimately responsible for and to myself.
