The empowering nature of Satanism
While there are many factors that make Satanism appealing, it’s the empowering nature of the self that speaks to a lot of us.
From our early days, faith based religion instills helplessness, shame, and guilt with the end goal to make individuals servants to and in total submission of a higher power.
Helplessness because you are powerless to the will of God, not your own actions or inactions.
Shame because your very existence stems from a sinful act.
Guilt over enjoyment and pleasure.
Put them together and it creates a dependency.
There are dozen of statements where the point of your life is to serve God.
From a psychological standpoint, this would be a toxic relationship between two people.
The point is driven home by sermons that teach if you fail, it’s because you have sinned. If you succeed, it’s because you have accepted the guidance of God.
This is compounded by the idea you are inherently broken and full of sin. You start off with a negative score and need to show devotion to God to get in his good graces. If you don’t, you get the wrath of eternal damnation.
Every action is judged to see how negative it is.
That is an abusive relationship no one should be subjected to.
From my perspective Satanism empowers individuals.
There is nothing wrong with you. You aren’t bad. Nor should you be ashamed of who you are. Your thoughts, feelings, and emotions make you the unique individual you are, one who is worthy and capable of love.
Within Satanism, when you make a mistake, it’s because you are trying to learn and grow. As they say, a person who never made a mistake never did anything.
When you succeed it’s because you have improved and applied yourself. It’s not because you said, “Amen.”
Satanism encourages people to take action, not sit around waiting for something to happen. If something is wrong, take steps to fix it.
Throwing up prayers, hoping for the best, or putting your trust in an invisible force, won’t change your life for tomorrow.
All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men and women to do nothing.
If the people in your life are making you miserable, praying for them to change won’t affect how they treat you tomorrow. A corrective actions might be to tell them to back off, or perhaps for you to step away.
If you want to pass a test, you need to study, not pray.
Satanism doesn’t put you at the mercy of some invisible higher power, hoping that maybe, one day, if you do it right, you might get some sort of reward, like love.
You are the center of the universe.
Life should be in service of the self.
You may be flawed, buy your aren’t broken.
Take care of yourself before others.
You have nothing to be ashamed of.
