What Trump can learn from Nixon
On September 8, 1974, Gerald Ford issued a pardon to Richard Nixon, because it would allow America to move forward from the shocking events of Watergate.
Nixon, losing the confidence of the people, and other branches of the government, resigned a month earlier. In his resignation he stated, “I will have hastened the start of that process of healing which is so desperately needed in America.”
Both men wanted to help heal the country, and address the massive divide that existed in the country. That divide pales in comparison to what exists today.
At the time, Nixon’s actions were considered the greatest scandal in history. It’s nothing compared to what we’ve had to endure since 2016, and what we continue to face on a daily basis.
We would be a better nation, and better people, if Trump would step down, and step away.
